Summer is right around the corner! School is out, summer vacations are fast approaching, and hurricane season is upon us. It can be easy to get caught up in the added stress of the summer season, but this year, we encourage you to show yourself some love! Here are four easy ways to help make this summer your best one yet:
1. Embrace Stillness
With all the hustle and bustle, it can be hard to slow down, and it’s even harder to stop all together. But high stress levels and overworked bodies and minds can lead to a host of health problems, so slow down when you can. Try to set aside five to ten minutes a day to be still, to meditate, to calm your mind, and breathe.
2. Cultivate Your Rituals
Creating good habits from scratch can be hard. Often, we are set in our daily routines and trying to switch it up too quickly can be stressful and counterproductive. Instead, try to make small modifications on a daily basis in order to cultivate positive rituals throughout your day. Setting aside an extra five minutes to enjoy your breakfast, incorporating some light stretching after a shower, and creating a relaxing playlist for your morning commute are all great ways to start cultivating a more positive morning routine for yourself.
3. Don’t Skip the Exercise
Exercise is so important. Regular exercise not only helps reduce your overall stress level, but it helps you stay healthy and will have you looking better than ever. That being said, we’re not asking you to run a marathon or sign up for an expensive gym membership tomorrow. It’s okay to start small. Consider taking a walk daily, lifting some light weights on your lunch break, or following along with a free online yoga class in the evenings.
Tip: Combine these three suggestions into one awesome experience by cultivating an evening routine that includes twenty minutes of exercise and ten minutes of meditation. You will thank us!
4. Schedule That Appointment
You deserve to treat yourself. Once a month, you should plan an activity just for you: treat yourself to a manicure, get a fresh hair cut or color, or stop in for an Alchemy Stress Relief Massage. You’ll appreciate having some time on your own, and regular appointments can be more cost effective in the long run.
